Day
1 - Leaving Edinburgh at 8.30 a.m. we head straight up to the Highlands
via Stirling and the Trossachs forests ("Braveheart Country").
Here all about William Wallace, Robert the Bruce and Rob Roy MacGregor.
Then its into magnificent Glencoe (the massacre of Clan MacDonald) and
beautiful Glenshiel, and up to Eilean Donan Castle* (where Highlander
was filmed) - you'll hear all the history and legends, with plenty of
time off the bus

Day
2 - A day exploring the West Highlands, with an amazing cruise
on Loch Carron*, and great walks in the area and relaxing in the
fantastic surroundings. Then it's off and over to the Isle of
Skye to take in the Cuillin mountains, Lealt Falls and Kilt Rock,
and up to the pretty fishing village of Portree for the night.

Day
3 - A perfect day on Skye, with lots of walks and time to taking in stunning
panoramas at the Quirang and experiencing the magic of Fairy Glen. Early
afternoon, it's off on the ferry to the island of Harris, where we spend
the afternoon exploring before reaching our home for the night in a beautiful
converted croft house. |

Day
4 - A fantastic day on the Isle of Lewis. We explore the rugged
Atlantic coastline, stopping at the amazing 4,000 year old Callanish
Standing Stones (second only to Stonehenge), walking the beautiful
white sand beaches (yes, we have beaches !), and exploring the ancient
Brochs (fortified dwelling houses) -A real outdoor day, with great
history and legends |

Day 5 - Today we make our way to Stornoway, the capital of Lewis, where
we see how traditional Harris Tweed is made* (it's better than tartan!),
and go seal spotting in the town harbour, and take the ferry back to
the mainland. Then it's destination Loch Ness, stopping at the wild
Corriescalloch Gorge and the Rogie Falls. Quick chat to the monster
and off home for the night on Loch Ness.

Day 6 - A full day, with our first stop the tragic Culloden Battlefield (the
English hammer us again), and then it's south for a walk to Ruthven Barracks.
Then we visit Edradour Whisky Distillery (Scotland's smallest distillery),
and round off the day with a gentle walk through the gorgeous Hermitage forest.
Finally, back to Edinburgh, tired and happy Scotland fans !
