Take two leisurely days to savour the delights of the Highlands; land of lochs, glens and mountains, the very heartlands of Highland myth and legend, history and heroes.

DAY 1
From Edinburgh we head North, over RANNOCH MOOR and the BLACK MOUNT, to awesome, tragic GLENCOE. Following the scenic route into the Highlands we walk in this glen, both famous and infamous for its bloody history - and then continue north towards FORT WILLIAM, nestling in the shadow of Scotland's tallest mountain, BEN NEVIS. Skirting BEN NEVIS, and leaving FORT WILLIAM behind, we might pause by the COMMANDO MEMORIAL, whose three giant figures stand silent sentinel over their old training area. Then it's INVERGARRY and GLENGARRY, scene of bloody battles between clans, of murder and revenge, en route to the mysterious LOCH NESS, reputed home of the legendary MONSTER, and feature of the latest fantasy film, "THE WATERHORSE: LEGEND OF THE DEEP."

See the imposing remains of URQUHART CASTLE beneath whose walls, in the deepest part of the loch, NESSIE is said to have put in most of her appearances!

Visit the CASTLE, take a 5-STAR JACOBITE CRUISE on LOCH NESS - both optional extras your driver can arrange - before travelling on to INVERNESS, CAPITAL OF THE HIGHLANDS, where we spend the night.

DAY 2

To make sure that you get the absolute maximum from your tour, our journey from INVERNESS to EDINBURGH is full of wonderful sights and activities. First stop is the emotion-laden CULLODEN BATTLEFIELD followed by ancient NEOLITHIC CLAVA CAIRNS before light relief with 'A TOUR AND A TASTE' at TOMATIN DISTILLERY.

The scenic splendour of THE ROTHIEMURCHUS ESTATE is immediately followed by RUTHVEN BARRACKS and THE HIGHLAND FOLK MUSEUM. Then it's THE HERMITAGE and romantic OSSIAN'S HALL before we end our epic journey crossing the FORTH back into EDINBURGH
